The Carson City Rendezvous is pleased to present the Brookfield Choraliers, singing "I'm Glad To Call Nevada Home" by Barbara Meyer, directed by Tim Nolte. They will perform at the Opening Ceremony on Saturday morning and again on the Main Stage Saturday afternoon. Click on their picture below to visit the Brookfield School web site. The 2010 Rendezvous is proud to announce that a Naturalization Ceremony will be included in the Opening Ceremony on Saturday morning, June 12. Naturalization ceremonies are celebrations during which individuals born outside of the U.S., who have met all requirements for United States citizenship, are awarded Certificates of Naturalization. The new citizens at this ceremony are from Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Turkey, Honduras, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Australia, India, Guatemala, Argentina, Vietnam, and Finland. Trisha Zinda will sing the National Anthem, the Brookfield Choraliers will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and the candidates will be congratulated by President Abraham Lincoln, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Scout "Kit" Carson. The candidates then take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States and leave the ceremony with all the rights and responsibilities of every other U.S. citizen. TV personality John Tyson will speak about the diverse heritage of the west. These ceremonies have been held at The State Capitol, Western Nevada College, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, UNR, and many other locations. Rendezvous welcomes these new Americans!
HBO is planning on filming this ceremony and the Rendezvous, so come on down to appear on TV yourself! The public is welcome at each encampment:
