Carson Advocates for Cancer Care
was founded in 1992 as Carson Advocates for Cancer
Victims. Since that time, this 501c3 non-profit voluntary
organization has been dedicated to fulfilling its mission, which is to
give assistance and care for local cancer patients in northern Nevada
through providing financial assistance for prescription medicines,
medical treatments, and related services. This assistance is made
possible primarily through grant funding, currently provided by the Task
Force for the Fund for a Healthy Nevada, which is derived from a share of
the revenue the state receives from the “Master Tobacco Settlement
Agreement.” That funding has dried up! So now, to meet the needs of a
growing cancer population in Northern Nevada, the agency must rely
increasingly on the generosity of concerned citizens and charitable
foundations to provide additional funds for disbursement in behalf of
cancer patients and to finance the cost of a grant search in the private
sector.
